4/11/2007 Alpha to Omega, Chocolate to ChocolateAlpha to Omega, Chocolate to Chocolate
A yesterday just ended. A today just started. Feel like writing some thoughts from chocolates. Was tempted by chocolates recently, got chance to tasted some different chocolate brands and recalled the box of chocolates word.
“Life is like a box of chocolates, you will always know what you are going to get next”, sounds familiar and different?
You know everyday you are going to work for life, and you know which day you want to apply and take leaves among the every day. You know what time you are going to wake up and get up, you set the alarm and boss set the working hours. You know how much you are going to be paid by the end of the month, it is written on the employment letter.
You know what time you will be off for the day, it is pre-set. Every morning before work, you got to have quiet time. Every first and third Monday evening, you got to go for prayer meeting. Every second and forth Tuesday evening, you got to go for skills and leadership training. Every Wednesday evening, you got to go for care group gathering. Every month one or two Thursday, you got to go for PA duty for praise and worship practice. Every Friday evening, you got to go for “NETWORK” open meeting. Every third Saturday, you got to go for mission support trip to Pahang after half day work. Every Sunday, you got to go for Sunday service in the morning, lunch fellowship, meetings in the afternoon and household devotion at night. Every night before bed, you got to read something or type something or translate something.
Furthermore, the time slots besides those “everys”, you have to try your best to make appointments for your own business.
“Life is like a box of chocolates, you will always know what you are going to get next”, because of those chocolates selling in the market, one box usually has only one flavor.
“Life is like a box of chocolates, you will never know what you are going to get next”, sounds familiar and different?
You will never know if you are able to go for work or go for leave tomorrow, and even you are able to, things just come without following your expectations. You will never know if you are going to wake up on time, the alarm just don’t want to function without battery or you just overslept without hearing it. You will never know how much you are going to earn from your own business, your customers will always bring you surprises.
You will never know if you have to work for over time that day, it is the changed setting. Every morning quiet time, you will never know what message you are going to receive. Every prayer meeting, you will never know what time you can reach, the bus seems never have a fix traveling time. Every skills and leadership training, you will never know what challenges you are going to face. Every care group gathering, you will never know who the absent people are. Every praise and worship practice, you will never know what the mixer settings are on that day. Every “NETWORK” open meeting, you will never know what time you will reach home. Every mission support trip, you will never know what will inspire you. Every Sunday, you will never know what the pastor is going to share in the morning, which one you will have lunch with, what time the meetings will finished, and what the prayer points are at the end of devotion. Every night, you will never know what you are going to read, what you are going to type and where you are going to stop translating.
Furthermore, the appointments you made, you will never know if the person will come.
“Life is like a box of chocolates, you will never know what you are going to get next”, because of every bite of the chocolate, you will discover different aromas.
There are things for you to experience - excitements, disappoints, surprises, boringness, happiness, sadness, encouragements, complaints, laughter and tear. You know you should live to the full, and you will never lose hope or give up.
“Life is like a box of chocolates, chocolates are nice to taste.”
Emmanuel!
